The mechanical subcontractor needs the mechanical job. Giving them a login gives them everything the company has ever built.
Access is granted per project. Someone invited onto one job reaches that job and nothing else — whether they are an employee or an external consultant working for three of your competitors at once.
Permissions go further than the project boundary. Individual features can be granted or withheld per member, and the server enforces every one of them: hiding a menu item is not a permission, so the API refuses as well.
Subcontractors get their own portal scoped to their trade, which means they can be given real access to their own scope without a conversation about what else they might see.
The project register, team performance and notifications sit on top of this, so who did what is answerable without asking around.
